Nostalgia

AmyD, one of my favorite bloggers, wrote a post talking about songs that brought back memories. Since I wasn’t really into music when I was younger, very few songs evoke memories, but there are other things that certainly turn the wistful eye to the past. I thought I’d share a few.

Not even Jason Bateman in “Teen Wolf II” could hold a candle to “Teen Wolf!” I remember seeing that in the theater…

You have no idea how much I LOVE the HBO theme song. Brings back such amazing memories…

You said “wistful” which means I continue to be very concerned for your wellbeing. Do I need to be?

I had such a thing for Boof from Teen Wolf during my formative years.

Almost as much as Helen Slater and Pheobe Cates

Oh, and my parents were supposed to help me hook up my Nintendo? Why didn’t someone tell them that?

    Amanda, I loved that opening!

Hello, Jim Carrey is not in Teen Wolf. And I was going to post the MJF Pepsi commercial but decided not to. It’s too cheesy.

Shiny, yeah, I saw it a few times.

Hilly, as long as you don’t bite into it, you should be fine.

Poppy, why would you need to be?

    Dan, Phoebe Cates was delicious.

Trish, well, you ARE a grandmother.

Kapgar, my parents couldn’t hook it up if their lives depended on it.

Britt, it’s pretty much been Saturday for you for a week now hasn’t it?

Thursday’s Child, I have the HBO intro song stuck in my head.

ADW, just mount him and let him shake!

Golfwidow, I know! That’s exactly how I felt.

    Jennifer, party on!

    Finn, they love you too.

BE Earl, I used to love that theme. I hate their new one.

Ha, I remember all of those fondly, too. In fact, I remember seeing a Michael J. Fox double feature…”Back to the Future,” followed by “Teen Wolf.” Fabulous.

Is it wrong to want to go rent Teen Wolf now?

The video stopped right after the good guys blocked the shot and someone was about to chuck the ball all the way down the court. What happened?! Did they make it?? Did they win?

Most of this stuff doesn’t evoke any memories for me, but I wasn’t alive in the eighties. The tootsie pop commercial was around during my childhood. I love that commercial.

You know, I used to stress out sooo badly during the Teen Wolf van-surfing scene. No matter how many times I saw it, I was firmly onvinced he was going to fly right the fuck off that thing. I have an ulcer just thinking about it.

    I must be getting old.
Also, all those School House Rock ads. I actually had a VHS (haha) tape with a bunch of School House Rock Saturday morning things on it until someone snagged it.
The HBO theme is my favorite. The sound was so gooood then – I mean it! It seriously gets you all excited for whatever’s coming next!
Maybe THAT should be your theme music!

I too love the HBO theme song. I also really love the wee city. I wanted to frolic in it when I was a kid.

Did they really call that Nintendo gun a “light sensing zapper”? That’s just funny.

Karl, add chocolate and that might be my idea of a movie theater in heaven.

Sarah, you mean you don’t own it on DVD? What’s wrong with you?

J, yeah, although even now he still looks pretty young.

AmyD, I just remember the side boob in Teen Wolf.

Kylah, thank you. I now feel ancient.

    Kyra, you’re a weirdo!

Sybil, I totally should have used that for my vlog intro.

Lynda, I think that one is even older than that, though.

    Heather, I loved that show!

    Jasmine, omg lol!

MyWeeWorld, I remember them calling it the zapper. I think they wanted to avoid calling it a “gun”.

TMP, I love that VH1 show, too.

Trukindog, you’re only as old as I make you feel.

Dickie, what about Airheads? Remember those?

Um, to clarify (I guess my old age), the School House Rock things were on in the 70′s (right?!). D’oh!

    2. It didn’t have the ending, the best part when he ignores the bitch and goes for Booth. Was that her name?
    3. Ok, now I definitely know I watched way too much tv as a kid.

Robin, movie night was awesome. I think it was Saturdays that HBO showed their newest movie.

  35. Bonkers candy. Mmm. Watermelon was my favorite. I remember that cranky lady from the Wendy’s commercials, and that “falling star” McDonald’s commercial used to make me cry. I’d sing the Tootsie Roll commercial while riding my bike or scooter around the neighborhood. “Teen Wolf” was one of my favorite movies.

My sister used to dance in front of the TV (as a toddler) when the HBO Special Feature music used to come on. My dad would say, “It’s on! It’s on!”, and she’d come running from wherever she was, grab hold of the TV set, and shake her butt. Good times, good times.

Teddy Grahams cereal went soggy in about 2 minutes flat.

I had the Play-Doh fun factory.

Now I want to go dig around and find my Ninendo and play Yo, Noid! for an hour or so.
