Written by Bryan Fuller, the genius behind Pushing Daisies and the only reason to watch Heroes for the seasons where he wrote for them (too bad he’s already gone again), Dead Like Me was a genius series on Showtime about grim reapers, with Mandy Patinkin in his best role since Inigo Montoya. And now Hulu has the whole series available online for free.
Take an hour and a half of your day and watch the pilot. You’ll love it, guaranteed or your money back!

And all of Season 1 and Season 2 are available for Instant streaming on Netflix as well.
Plus the feature follow-up DVD from earlier this year Dead Like Me: Life After Death. I haven’t seen it but they got back a bunch of the original cast for it. No Bryan Fuller though.
It’s on my queue, but I’m wading thru Battlestar Galactica right now. So it will have to wait a bit.

@B.E. Earl, the movie sucked because of no Mandy Patinkin.

Brian Fuller is also half-responsible for the brilliant “Wonderfalls”… which I actually prefer slightly over “Dead Like Me.”

Don’t you just love hulu? I know I love hulu. This was such a great post! I so much enjoyed reading the few lines of text you tossed up before the wonderful amazing hulu video.
Oh wait. that’s right! My bad. Hulu is only available to US residents. ahh well! I’m not much of a television fan anyway!

*sigh* i really liked that show, but i never got to see much of it. now i’ll have to go through other more painful means to ever be able to watch it.
i feel your pain bluepaintred, they don’t even have net flix here.

@Cri, no Netflix in Canada? The humanity!

I freaking LOVE Dead Like Me! That and Firefly are my two not so popular but everyone should watch shows that I harass everyone I know to check out.

@Breigh, don’t get me started about Firefly.

LOVED Pushing Daisies. It was my husband’s favorite series until they killed it dead with no hope of someone bringing it back to life, except maybe on Hulu someday. I will most definitely check out this show. I don’t invest in premium channels, so I don’t know about these things until someone comes along and enlightens me.

@MidLifeMama, hopefully you’ll like it.

I loved that show. I am always now skeptical of everyone that bumps into me in public.

I loved this show so much when it was on, despite having watched every episode, that I bought the DVD’s. Was crushed when it was cancelled, but oh well, and now comes along Hulu. Great, just after I bought the last two seasons of Buffy on DVD and bought the first two seasons of the X-files.
I swear, I live under a fucking rock.

@Auds at Barking Mad, I own all the series, even if they’re online for free.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Dead Like Me! I have watched the entire first season and have the rest cued on Netflix. Amazing writing and great acting! We need more tv like this!

Seriously?
That’s your post for today?
You’re announcing that some lame-o chick show is available to watch on Hulu?
And you’re admitting that you watched it?
You and your big dumb vagina can have fun watching that bullshit.
You wouldn’t try the new Knight Rider, and now you’re watching girl crap…
Bad bro-code. Your man card is revoked.

@Rachael, well, now you can finish the season for free!

Bryan Fuller rocks! Well, mostly. That last Heroes episode he produced was disappointing. Everything else, though? Awesome.

@Ren, yeah, that episode wasn’t very good.

I’ve been watching Dead Like Me the same way you told me I was watching Sex and the City – the wrong way! It’s been coming on at about 1 a.m. on Sundays.
But just so you know, there is hope for me, because I saw it on Hulu today even before I read this and thought, “Hey, that’s a much better way to watch the show!”
Reply
Thanks for the recommendation. With Monday night being devoid of anything worth watching, I’m scooting over to Hulu to check out this series, Dead Like Me.
Rock on, rocker.
