I need your music suggestions.

I love to work with music blasting. And while sometimes that means classical, it usually means dancy, upbeat, poppy stuff that has bass. The problem is, I feel like I’ve been repeating the same songs over and over and it’s time to inject some fresh blood into my music IV.

I like female musicians almost exclusively, and I have the musical taste of your average 11 or 12-year old girl. Here are some of the groups I listen to on repeat right now:

Ke$ha
The Millionaires
Robyn
Pink
Lady Gaga
Britney Spears
Little Boots
Avril Lavigne
No Doubt
Lords of Acid
Peaches
Ladytron
Gorillaz
Air
Taylor Swift

I already posted this on Twitter but thought I’d carry it over to my blog too. Do you have any suggestions to add to my excellent, high quality list of musical talent? Links to Youtube videos or audio tracks of said music get extra credit.

And in case you missed it a while ago, here I am dancing to some Lords of Acid:

Metalmom posted “Kiss You Off” by Scissor Sisters, and I really like it. The album I got, Ta-Da, is very dance oriented. In fact, when I bought it, the guy said there wasn’t a song I couldn’t dance to.

If you are interested, I can let you store an off-site backup copy of the album. Send me an email.

I don’t think my other stuff would interest you. I am more interested in male singers, and more Alternative Rock/Metal

Oh God – Lords of Acid! Forget about them! (They’ve been locked up in a basement cabinet from when the chillins was small – but now! – they is adults and I can bring it out…..maybe).

Ok, obviously anything by Liz Phair. Please tell me you know Liz.

Classical: Portuguese Love Theme from Love Actually

Crush: Jellyhead (love it!), Penthouse Girl, Basement Boy

Since you like Taylor Swift, you might like Suzy Bogguss

Metric’s new album Fantasies is rather fun and upbeat. (Gimme Sympathy video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqldwoDXHKg )

Hm. Strangely missing is Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson. That is about as pop tart sweet as I know. I don’t do bubble gum pop music.

    Here’s some pop tart music…
    Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend
    Michelle Branch – Breathe
    Vanessa Carlton – 1000 Miles
    Jessica Simpson – With You

But, if you are willing to go a little edgier, you can try on:

    Little Boots *New In Town*
    Liz Phair *Everything to Me*

Also, I think you’ll love Andre Williams.

A*Teens… They started as a kiddie ABBA tribute band, but their later albums are actually really good new pop. The two girls singing lead are pretty darn talented.

Hoku… I like her better than Britney and Avril. Her debut album is gold, and I love every song on it. Sadly, she went indie after that, so her music is hard to find, but you won’t care because her first album is so good. Trivia… it’s Don Ho’s daughter, Hoku Ho!

Bananarama… Their latest stuff doesn’t get much airplay, but it’s better than anything they did in the 80′s. It’s mostly dance, but it’s got poppy overtures. “Feel for You” off their album “Drama” is a pretty good indicator of what you get.

West End Girls… A two-girl Pet Shop Boys tribute band that does a remarkably good job with the material. Kind of hard to get, as they don’t have much representation here in the USA.
