Avitable's Gift Guide for the Four Year Old Girl

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

On Sunday, I have a little party to go to. I carefully researched presents to buy for Emma, who is turning four years old, and I thought I'd share my research with all of you so that if any of you have to go to a birthday party for a four year old girl, you'll be able to use my handy gift guide!

Item 1: Box of Small Items that Look Like Candy
Filled with carefully chosen scraps of metal, asbestos, nuts, and expanding plastic pieces, this box of individually painted items even smells like candy! This is the gift that will keep on giving. After the endless hours of fun at home, your child will be able to enjoy hours of fun at the hospital having his or her stomach pumped! $44.99.

Item 2: Lil' Ho Dress up
If there's anything cuter than your little daughter dressed up like she's about to go out and give handjobs for a dollar, I don't want to know what it is! Decorated with sparkly sequins, this G-string/halter top combo is sure to attract the eyes of many a John. $14.99 plus half your take, bitch.

Item 3: Apple Juice Flavored Bleach
This industrial strength bleach is cleverly disguised as a bottle of apple juice and even smells and tastes like the real thing! That is, until the chemicals give your child the cleansing of their life! Now your child can help with the housecleaning and really feel like he or she is one of the adults! $3.99.

Item 4: Dora Does Dallas
Dora the Explorer moves to Dallas to start a new life and ends up becoming Dora the Explored! Your child will learn important Spanish words like "puta", "penga", "coño", "culo", and "tetas". $24.99

Item 5: Catch Your Own Pet Mousetrap
This handy gift comes with its own bait and will teach your child to capture his or her own pet to play with! Pet may or may not survive capture. $6.99, plus free rodent disposal.

Item 6: Heroin Addict Barbie
Finally disposing of the ridiculous body proportions that set unrealistic standards for children today, Heroin Addict Barbie comes emaciated with slender hips and a drooping bust. Each rib is perfectly sculpted to stand out, and she comes with two outfits – one for hooking and one that's puke-stained. Accessories include heroin syringe and Rodney the Rat. Dumpster not included. $30.00.

First Annual Avitable Holiday Gift Guide

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Are you having trouble figuring out what to buy for your slightly effeminate son? Your geeky awkward daughter? Your MMORPG playing husband or wife? Your movie freak of a dad? Your snooty glutton of a mom?

Your prayers have been answered. I present you with the First Annual Avitable Holiday Gift Guide (aka FAAHGG)!

I have scoured the Internet and come up with some of the coolest shit out there. I have not, however, tested each of these items for their coolness, nor have I put them in my mouth to see if they have small parts that might lead to choking or anal blockage, so purchase at your own risk. I will be buying most of these if I don't already own them, though, and everybody knows what good sense I have when it comes to financially investing in more crap to fill my house!

The guide continues behind the link. (more…)

Thank you Beth for the awesome Hawaiian touristy stuff. (Yes, that's a coconut turned into a football with a sunset painted on it and it's a bank!)

Thank you, The Absurdist for the Nintendo Wii Charging Station, which I desperately needed!

Thank you to my parents for dinner and the first season of SNL on DVD.

Thank you, ADW, for the new Stephen King book. Can I call you when I scare myself silly at night reading?

Thank you, Heather, aka Coalminer's Granddaughter, for the Ghost Hunters book! I love that you're a fan of the show, too! You should read this book – it has some awesome stories in it.

Thank you, AmyD, for the delicious cookies from Deluscious Cookies. I've been thinking about those since I left Los Angeles.

Thank you to my Amy for the iPhone. Now I can try to be as cool as Britt!

Thank you, Poppy, for the book and movie that I might eventually see in May sometime!

Thank you, Clown, for the fudge. It likes me plenty.

Thank you, Britt, for the Lego Star Wars Wii Game! Now I have something to do while you're working!

Thank you to Alyssa for the gourmet brownies. I think I have diabetes now!

Thank you to everyone who sent a card, an e-card, an email, an IM, made a video or posted a post about my awesomosity. Thank you if you sent a gift and I haven't gotten it yet. My ego is now the size of Texas and, in fact, the political candidates are fighting over the electoral votes it gets now. So it looks like my plan to write my own name in as a candidate might have a chance!

I don't deserve the love, but I will accept it shamelessly.

Update: Here is a picture of the awesome cookies that AmyD sent:

This weekend, I received a package from Poppy. Before I could take any photos, though, I devoured the entire package whole. So here is my artistic recreation of the contents of my stomach, which include her package, among other items.

Thanks, Poppy! You're my favorite blogger from France!

Aftermath

Yesterday was fun. We hosted Christmas dinner for about 15 people. I made mashed potatoes and used my newly purchased BACONSALT and it was awesome. We had ham and turkey and beef brisket and roast beef and mashed potatoes (with BACONSALT) and stuffing and green beans and cranberry sauce and Amy made a shitload of desserts (I made the fudge).

We didn't do much gift exchanging this year, but I still got a few books I wanted (Dean Koontz's newest, the last two Stephenie Meyers's books in the vampire trilogy), some movies (Bourne Ultimatum, The Simpsons), and a video game (Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii). I got some random geeky things, a few gift certificates, eggnog- and gingerbread-flavored hot cocoa, and a new wallet, which was desperately needed, yet something I'd never go buy for myself.

I bought Amy some pajamas from Victoria's Secret (flannel ones with puppies and kitties on them), a GPS unit, a heated blanket that only heats one side so that she can stay warm but I don't have to sweat my balls off, and a digital picture frame/travel alarm clock for all of her business trips.

Jigsaw got a few new bones, a new toy, and a new outfit (thanks liquid!):

All in all, it was a hectic day, and I'm glad it's over, but it was nice to see everyone, too.

Now, everybody back to fucking work!

Help!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Ok, holy world of wise and intelligent blogocraticspherites. I've given my share of unsolicited advice, supportive noncommittal comments, backhanded compliments and answers backed by absolutely no research whatsoever. Now it's time for me to reap something in return.

What do I get my parents for Christmas?

They have everything they could possibly want. My mother hates flowers, and I already get my father a box of cigars every month. Last year I got them a weekend at the Ritz-Carlton over on Amelia Island so they could stay the weekend, play tennis, and have fun, and they liked that, but I don't want to duplicate that gift. My mother buys what she wants when she wants it, and my father doesn't want anything.

I'm pulling my hair out, blogophiles! And it's getting a bit thin on top, so I can't afford to pull any of it out.

I have one week. And I need your help.
